At Valorem Reply, we are hiring a Manager for the Data & AI team. In this role you will focus on building modern data platforms using Microsoft cloud technologies for our customers. As a technical leader, you will assist with setting the technical direction of the practice and keep up to date with current trends in data-focused technology. The ideal candidate will have previous experience as a manager, actively work alongside our delivery teams, and serve as a trusted partner to our customers.
ResponsibilitiesBusiness development: Assist in new business development and technical sales through development of proposals, estimation, statements of work, and requests for proposalsProject delivery: Contributing to and overseeing the successful delivery of data platform, analytics, and data science projects while liaising with clients to meet their needsTeam management: Providing leadership, coaching, and mentorship to team members and supporting their professional developmentThought leadership: Staying current on latest trends and technologies, while sharing expertise with colleagues, clients, and industry peers through speaking engagements, publications, and workshopsKnowledge sharing: Technical evangelism, provide training, and establishing a learning culture within the team Minimum RequirementsBachelor's degree in computer science or related field12 years of industry experience, with 4 most recent years as a hands-on manager leading a team on enterprise scale data platform projectsExpertise with Microsoft Azure infrastructure and data resources, including Azure Data Factory, Synapse Data Analytics, Power BI, Azure SQL, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Azure Stream Analytics, Azure ML, and Azure Data ExplorerExperience setting end-to-end modern data platforms in Azure including architecture/design, ingestion, storage strategies, analytics & reporting, Apache Spark, and networking requirements5 years of experience as a manager, leading teamsData governance, data security, and familiarity with different industry security requirements Ability to create working environments for data engineers and scientists, and general knowledge of ML, AI, LLMs, and MLOpsAbility to clearly explain concepts to teammates and customers, and quickly learn new concepts and technologies Preferred QualificationsExperience in a consulting role working directly with customersExperience with Databricks, especially Unity Catalog, data warehousing, data sharing, and Mosaic AI Knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Fabric and Purview, including migration or initial set-upDevOps for data, GitHub, automated testing, and working with containers (AKS, Docker, registries, etc.)Broad experience with data/reporting tools, architectures, cloud vendors, and data/AI conceptsExperience with ML/AI is strongly preferred but not required.
