*This is a hybrid remote position in Rhode Island* Job Summary: The Compliance & Privacy Analyst ("CPA") is part of the CNE Compliance Services team and reports to the Director of Compliance and Privacy Operations. This position serves as a key member of the compliance team and subject matter expert for compliance and privacy reporting matters, including data analytics.
The CPA is responsible for facilitating, executing, monitoring the overall management of the compliance & privacy data and reporting functions. Additionally, the CPA will assist the compliance team with investigations, and triaging, as appropriate, of system-wide compliance and privacy matters.
Conducts thorough and comprehensive investigations of privacy violation allegations, including data gathering, analyses, interviews, and report writing under the direction of the Director of Compliance and Privacy Operations.
Will assist with general audit projects.
Works to develop strong relationships across the System with key departments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Design business analysis and data recording systems for use throughout the department.
2. Maintain databases and perform updates as necessary to ensure accuracy.
3. Track and identify trends in reported compliance and privacy issues and inquiries.
4. Regularly examine data reports to locate and resolve mistakes throughout.
5. Accurately analyze and collect data for various types of business reports.
6. Create business reports and dashboards that provide insight into key data points.
7. Communicate the results of data analysis in written and verbal form to managers.
8. Assists the Team with the maintenance of electronic data management systems in use in the Department.
Privacy and Compliance:
1. Assists the Privacy team with the coordination, development, facilitation, and enhancement of the Privacy and Compliance Program with a focus on developing the Program using data and business intelligence
2. Develops a strong understanding of the Compliance Services software tools to help optimize each tool to full potential.
3. Responsible for the collection and analysis of compliance and privacy program data and analytics and develops reports.
4. Assists the VP and Director with coordinating system wide privacy and compliance projects which may include working closely with Information Security, Information Services, Human Resources, or operations teams to identify and implement process or system changes.
5. Assists with routine healthcare privacy and compliance training and education to enhance awareness of compliance obligations and privacy best practices.
6. Assists the Compliance Team with the management of general audits identified on the Annual Workplan and other audits as needed.
7. Responds to general compliance and privacy questions and inquiries and provides information and referrals, as appropriate.
8. Provides support to department related initiatives including the planning and performance of privacy-based risk assessments and data-inventory processes.?
9. Assists with monitoring the compliance hotline to ensure appropriate response and resolution.
10. Handles all compliance and privacy matters with sensitivity and maintains strict confidentiality of all work material and activities.
11. At the direction of the Director performs special projects related to CNE operational areas.
12. Provides support to the Director of Compliance and Privacy Operations and members of the compliance team in meeting federal and state reporting requirements, including the Office for Civil Rights, regarding breach notification and follow-up investigations.
13. Maintains a working knowledge of relevant privacy laws, regulations, rules, and standards and keeps abreast of privacy trends impacting higher education.
14. Routinely conducts rounds at assigned Affiliates to foster a culture of compliance and perform HIPAA Privacy and Security walkthroughs. Manages the compilation and dissemination of findings and corrective actions to management. Ensures remediation plan in place to address actions.
15. Assists the Director with requests for data sharing with external entities.
16. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements: Bachelors degree required
Minimum of 2 years' experience working as a data analyst, preferably in healthcare.
• Strong data analytics skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage time and prioritize projects to meet deadlines
• Ability to use SQL and Microsoft Excel to create pivot tables, graphs and charts.
• Experience with Tableau and/or Microsoft PowerBI
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively relate data to coworkers
• Tendency to pay close attention to small details that could impact results
• Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Skills Required.
• Experience with Artificial Intelligence, Maize and/or Privacy Surveillance software, Revenue Cycle Audit solutions and and electronic health records preferred
Certifications: Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) and Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) required within 12 months of hire.
Other related Certifications can be considered in place of the CHC certification (CPHRM).
