The Manager, Civil/Structural Engineering is responsible for assigning Structural staff to projects. Assists in writing proposals, developing hours to execute projects, and identifying risks and opportunities for upcoming projects. Evaluates and manages employees under their supervision.
Explore your tasks and responsibilities Attracts, retains and develops premier talent through recruiting, mentoring, training and other employee development activities Participates in weekly project meetings, including report-out on project progress, performance risks, budget status, coordination issues, and staffing requirements Reports out to the Director during the Bi-Weekly Manager meeting, the status of all projects and proposals in the platform, identify technical challenges, and problems or risks. Holds weekly project discipline leads meetings with reports to the Discipline Director Maintains primary accountability for all structural designs, sharing engineering responsibility Mentors Interns and junior members of project teams Adept at interfacing with and aligning multiple stakeholders with diplomacy while exhibiting a professional demeanour Ensures staff forecasting is current on a weekly basis for the discipline, as entered in the Manpower Management System (MMS). Help in adjustment of resource additions / reductions within the discipline Be familiar with all local discipline projects in sufficient detail to know schedule, resource requirements, submittal dates, etc. so staff can be allocated as needed to accomplish a smooth product flow When necessary, employ the use of personal process engineering capabilities related to programming, planning, design and project management on specific project assignments Manages the overall integration of activities associated with the design and construction of complex manufacturing facilities Plans and directs the coordinated activities of a design department Other duties as assigned The information contained in this job description is intended to describe the essential job functions required of those assigned to this job.
