Job Description: The Reception and Treatment Center is now accepting applications for the position of Grievance Case Manager. DUTIES:
Receive and review inmate grievances according to established policies and procedures. Conduct thorough investigations into each grievance, including gathering evidence and interviewing relevant parties. Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity when handling grievance information. Analyze grievance trends and patterns to identify systemic issues or areas for improvement. Collaborate with correctional staff, administrators, and legal counsel as needed to address complex grievances. Document all steps taken during the grievance process and maintain accurate records. Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to grievance procedures. Develop and implement training programs for staff on grievance handling and conflict resolution. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of grievance resolution strategies and make recommendations for improvements. Serve as a liaison between inmates and administration to address concerns and promote transparency. Maintain a database or system for tracking and reporting on grievance data and outcomes. Participate in meetings, committees, or task forces related to grievance management and inmate rights. Conduct periodic audits and reviews of processes as directed by the area Supervisor and in coordination with the ACA Coordinator.
Be available to the population by being present during the serving of the noon meal. Sample meals throughout the week to determine if the menu is being followed, temp of the meals is being maintained and that the meals are palatable. Respond promptly to urgent or emergency grievances and escalate issues as appropriate. Provide guidance on the appeal process for inmates dissatisfied with grievance resolutions.
Prepare reports, presentations, or summaries on grievance activities and outcomes for leadership review. Continuously assess and improve the grievance handling process to ensure fairness, efficiency, and compliance with legal requirements, including conducting quality assurance assessment.
Lead the process for transition of electronic grievances.
Requirements/Qualifications Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, behavioral sciences, human services or related field OR Associate's degree in criminal justice, behavioral sciences, human services or related field plus two years of corrections experiences; OR four years of corrections experience. Must be at least 18 years of age. No felony or domestic abuse related convictions.
Other: Must have a valid driver's license. Transcripts required prior to appointment. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams; medical exam and drug testing. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully pain NE Corrections Training Program.
Knowledge, skills and abilities Knowledge of the correctional organizational structure; administrative regulations; operational memorandums; unit policies and procedures; personnel administration; counseling techniques and procedures; programs and opportunities open to inmates; caseload management. Ability to effectively communicate with inmates, staff, and the public; exercise leadership and sound judgment; operate within established guidelines; plan, assign, and supervise the work of others; effectively counsel inmates; communicate with a wide range of people in various situations; write reports and make recommendations; observe inmates and detect problems or unrest; understand and apply instructions.
