Job Responsibilities: As the Maintenance Worker II you will:
Collaborates with supervisors, veterinarian staff, and animal keepers to craft innovative solutions, addressing challenges and tailoring each project to meet specific requirements.Engages with zoo visitors, providing guidance and information while onsite completing various projects.Constructs, upkeeps, and restores variety of structures including buildings, fences, exhibits, and more, ensuring the integrity and functionality of the facilities.Manages plumbing installations and repairs, from valves to waterlines, conducting meticulous testing and maintenance to uphold operational efficiency.Executes concrete work, from form-building to finishing, for various zoo structures including walls, floors, and animal habitats.Utilizes welding and metal fabrication techniques to craft custom solutions like fences, gates, and animal shelters, meeting the zoo's unique needs.Demonstrates proficiency with an array of hand and power tools, as well as operating heavy machineryRequired Skills and Qualifications: We will consider any combination of relevant work experience, volunteering, education, and transferable skills as qualifying unless an item or section is labeled required. Three years progressively responsible trade experience such as required for mechanic, machinist, welding, and heavy equipment operator responsibilities with skills including design, fabrication, and assisting in project management, and Trade certified or equivalent, or Any combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for successful completion of the essential job duties.Required Valid Driver's licensePreferred Skills and Qualifications: You do not need to have the following preferred qualifications/transferable skills to qualify. However, keep in mind we may consider them when identifying the most qualified candidates. Your transferable skills are any skills you have gained through education, work experience, including the military, or life experience that are relevant for this position. 3 or more years of welding and fabrication experience
Compensation: $30.74 - $37.36 Hourly
