Responsibilities
• Provide mechanical support for process equipment and facilities at the Geismar, La. site.• Perform job tasks safely as instructed by supervisor.• Participate in daily maintenance activities such as repairs, preventive maintenance, replacements and upgrades of equipment and the plant• Ability to read, understand and interpret equipment drawings, P&IDs, schematics and repair and installation manuals.• Align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.• Repair and lubricate machines and equipment.• Use hand tools, power tools, welder, cutting torches to accomplish construction and repair projects.
Requirements
• Three to five years of maintenance experience in chemical or related industry.• Certified Millwright• Desire and ability to work as part of a team is a must.• Must be available for on-call work, including weekends and holidays.• Physical: Walking, sitting, climbing, talking, hearing and seeing. Lift 50-55 pounds, medically qualified to wear respirator.• Aptitudes: Must possess the ability to understand the meaning of words and their ideas, as well as instructions and their underlying principles. Perform arithmetic operations quickly and accurately, and possess eye-hand motor coordination.• Temperaments: Must have the ability to accept responsibility, perform duties under stress, adapt to situations requiring preciseness, and adapt to changing duties and responsibilities.• Must be able to adapt to situations involving the interpretation of feelings, ideas, or facts; be able to influence people in the opinions, attitudes, or judgments; and be able to generalize, evaluate, make decisions, and perform repetitive work.• Education: High School Diploma or GED• Candidates are required to have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
