We offer an exciting working environment at our corporate headquarters in a rapidly growing industry, competitive salaries, and excellent benefits.Job DescriptionUL Solutions, will be installing a solar monitoring system (SMS) in Montgomery County, Illinois on behalf of one of our Clients. The station is (roughly 20x20 footprint) consists of a few solar panels, (2) 7-foot tripods, and scientific measurement equipment surrounded by a locked chain link fence. The stations will be monitoring the solar resource as well as other meteorological and weather-related parameters.The station requires weekly maintenance, on the same day each week at approximately the same time to ensure consistent and accurate data is being collected for a minimum of 1 year and maximum 2 years. Your duties will include the following:Uphold highest level of communication as first point of contact for equipment in field;Ensure all equipment is level & clean on a weekly basis;Provide troubleshooting (w/support from UL) and when requested, repair(s) for low-complexity issues;Ensure there is no debris obstructing the system (depending on site/region, grass cutting, snow removal, or clearing brush); andConfirm the system is secure and hasn't been tampered with.Each maintenance visit should take 15-30 minutes. UL requires a weekly excel logbook uploaded via internet along with photos and other documentation to support the visit which should take 30-45 minutes. The entire process should take between 2-4 hours each week depending on your travel time to and from site.Occasionally, UL may request your assistance in replacing or troubleshooting equipment. A Senior Engineer would contact you to walk you through the process. They will support you while onsite and review data after the equipment repair.QualificationsNo solar experience is required. Training will be provided remotely via phone and video, potential onsite training when possible.Must be able to take instruction remotely throughout length of contract term.Must use own transportation to and from remote SMS location (4WD highly preferred.)Willing/able to walk to and from site, no more than ¼ mile in one direction.Must own gas or battery-operated weedwhacker should grass cutting be required.Required to climb and work comfortably from an 8-foot ladder (UL provided).Capable of maintaining equipment utilizing a level, a screwdriver or other hand tools.Must have basic computer skills, including ability to upload attachments with their own version of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) to SharePoint with reliable internet.A smart phone is required to take site photos as well as to communicate with UL staff while on site in an event of an emergency.Required to treat all applicable information as confidential.Salary:$100-$150 per visit depending on proximity to site.Additional InformationUL is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, creed, sex, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, marital status, genetic predisposition, or any other basis protected by law.
