This position will be located at the new GD-OTS facility located in Mesquite, TX. SUMMARY: Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems (e.g., mechanical, electrical). Evaluates and recommends equipment improvements to improve availability, capability and yield. Performs equipment failure analyses (including preventive and unscheduled maintenance). Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment problems. Prepares technical reports to document equipment modifications and equipment maintenance procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Assists in the repair and maintenance of equipment or machinery. Uses hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments to repair and maintain, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment. Ensures new machines are prepared for operation following protocols and procedures and performs regular technical testing to ensure their safety and efficiency. Collects data on machine operation, and suggests actions to reduce machine downtime. May also include responsibilities for Mesquite: Reading and interpreting engineering blueprints, Mechanical & Electrical. Communicating with the production team and maintaining a clean work area. Preparing and submitting maintenance reports IMPACT OF THE ROLE: Performs manual tasks according to established procedures Requires full proficiency in a range of technical processes or procedures through job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience Completes a variety of atypical assignments Works within defined technical processes and procedures or methodologies and may help determine the appropriate approach for new assignments Works with a limited degree of supervision, with oversight focused only on complex new assignments Education and/or Experience Vocational/Technical Training Degree Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education and/or Experience Preferred: Associate's Degree with Technical Training 5-7 years prior experience in a similar position. Industrial Maintenance Manufacturing environment preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to work as part of a team. Ability to follow directions. Manual Dexterity. Physical stamina For Mesquite Operations : Knowledge of parametric and industrial control systems Familar with OSHA Safety Standards and Regulations In-Depth Knowledge of Hydraulic Systems and Schematics In-Depth Knowledge of Siemens PLCs and Drives Basic Computer and Report Writing Skills Preferred Experience with start ups, such as project planning, and establishing business processes, management systems, and work instructions is desired. Physical Demands Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities. May need to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
