Maintenance Staff

Job summary
The custodian is responsible for keeping branches and grounds functionally and aesthetically pleasing.Ensures the branches are tidy, clean and well-maintained.Responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in assigned areas.

Responsibilities
• Maintaining cleanliness in assigned areas: sweep, mop, dust, vacuum, clean windows, etc.• Cleaning and maintaining floors, walls, windows, tiled areas, etc.• Descales and sanitizes sinks, toilets, showers, restrooms, etc.• Refilling product dispensers and replacing light bulbs.• Emptying waste containers and dusting furniture.• Assisting with snow removal and furniture setup/arrangement.• Relieving personnel in other areas during emergencies or staff shortage.• Completing assigned responsibilities during facility shutdowns.• Performing routine maintenance and responding to service needs.• Attending staff meetings and trainings, following YMCA policies.
Requirements
• High School Diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent.• Minimum one year of related experience in custodial work.• Ability to work with minimal supervision and handle basic maintenance repairs.• Flexible work schedule including afterhours cleaning.• Knowledge and ability to work with chemicals and equipment.• Prior knowledge or understanding of cleaning agents and techniques.• Mature judgment, knowledge of safety issues, and effective communication skills.• Prior knowledge of carpet and hard surface floor maintenance preferred.
