Ad Astra Diagnostics, Inc. (AAD) is looking for a Machine Vision Scientist to develop the next features of AAD's cutting edge medical device. AAD provides rapid point-of-care diagnostics to enable fast health decisions. The company's QScout™ system was designed to improve health and efficiency. You will be joining a team to develop a method to extract quantitative information from microscopy images to robustly meet the performance requirements. You will also be actively participating in initiatives supporting regulatory filings, such as the demonstration of substantial equivalence with other medical devices. Our Machine Vision Scientist will need to work from our office in Morrisville, NC regularly, but AAD prioritizes flexibility and offers hybrid work options.
Responsibilities include: Work closely with biologists and microscopy specialists to understand research objectives and image analysis needs Develop machine learning models to identify, classify, and quantify biological structures and dynamics in microscopy data Create pipelines to process large microscopy datasets, including image enhancement, segmentation, feature extraction, and object tracking Optimize analysis methods for accuracy, speed, and efficiency when operating on devices with limited resources Summarize Machine Vision output performance into suitable metrics Maintain rigor in algorithm development with proper validation, debugging, monitoring, and documentation Stay up-to-date on the latest computer vision and microscopy technologies to inform future algorithm improvements. Requirements :
MS in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computational Biology, or related field (or a BA/BS with 2-5 years of complementary industry experience)5-10 years of experience applying statistical or machine learning techniques to imaging analysis Proficiency in Python and libraries commonly used in Machine Vision applications, such as PyTorch and scikit-image or similar Strong math skills including probabilities, linear regression, and descriptive statistics Knowledge of the application of Convolutional Neural Networks in image analysis Knowledge of microscopy and experience with the analysis of biological images Excellent coding abilities and knowledge of software engineering principles Experience with quick demonstration of feasibility for prospective technical approaches  Willingness to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment, balancing creative freedom with development goals and deadlines  Perform job functions independently and collaboratively with minimal direction from supervisor Desirables:
Experience with implementing machine learning model in windows applications Coding Proficiency in C# or C++ Experience with image analysis in hematology applications. About AAD
