Logistics Safety Manager This position reaches beyond the transportation segment of the business and provides safety and compliance support for the warehouse, facilities, and fleet maintenance teams. This is a multifaceted safety position often handling several projects at one time along with the day-to-day safety needs of the transportation and warehousing divisions.
Responsibilities: Ensure all company equipment follows state and federal regulations, including registrations, IFTA, HUT, and all other legal documentation for operating needs. Work with fleet maintenance service provider on equipment maintenance and repairs as needed. Maintain CDL A driver qualifications files per DOT guidelines. Maintain all company safety documentation as required. Coordinate and conduct periodic safety meetings with drivers of fleet to communicate safety performance results, various initiatives, and the overall importance of driver's safety. Initiate company safety programs and practices. Create annual safety budget and monitor costs throughout the year. Work with department managers to ensure all safety and training programs are followed per standard operating procedures. Work with company recruiter by running background safety checks on all prospective driver candidates and filing DOT driver verifications. Experience:  Minimum 5 years of experience and a proven track record in the industry. In depth knowledge of all DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA regulations and guidelines is required. Experience in all safety aspects of DOT, FMSCA, and OSHA regulations. Prior experience with accident reviews and investigations, corrective action plans and retraining.
