SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this role is work collaboratively in support of firm attorneys to provide the best legal services possible for the benefit of our clients.
QUALIFICATIONS:
2 - 4 years litigation experience required. Personal Injury experience preferred but not required. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Certificates, licenses and registrations preferred but not required. Computer skills required: Microsoft Office Suite Other skills required: Phone inbound/outbound calling DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain contact with assigned clients within scheduled timeframes upon transition of the case to litigation. Communicate with opposing counsel, providers, insurance providers, expert witnesses, and eye-witnesses to coordinate litigation needs for assigned clients. Perform data entry on case files, e-mail, and other correspondence to ensure properly negotiated files and, ultimately, settlement. Prepare all outgoing correspondence and send via mail, e-mail, fax or e-fax to/for clients, medical providers, opposing counsel, insurance companies, or any other relevant parties to the client's case; prepare drafts of pleadings, motions, mediation statements, and/or any other relevant litigations documents for attorney review/signature. Request injury, scene of accident, and/or property damage photographs; ensure proper upload to assigned client's file in case management software. Review medical records received and prepare/update client's medical chronology. Maintain and organize client folders timely (daily) and update proactively. Review incoming documents including mail, e-mail, fax, or other correspondence; save applicable information to client's electronic folder and notify assigned attorney of updates. Work closely with attorneys to discuss client file reviews, client contact, treatment, litigation needs, case status, and progress in the client's case file. Schedule and calendar in firm's case management software daily on all relevant events including, but not limited to, in/out of office meetings, depositions, mediations, hearings, medical exams, deadlines, disbursements, and/or any other events. Ensure the assigned attorney is properly booked on calendar and cross-check with all events (timed and untimed). Problem solve scheduling conflicts independently through communication and coordination with the assigned attorney and clients. Exchange finalized litigation documents with opposing counsel or any other relevant parties to the case. Ensure litigation documents are drafted and timely finalized so that firm staff can timely file documents with the courthouse(s). Draft discovery responses with specified timeframe of receiving the request from opposing counsel. Draft jury instructions and pretrial conference order timely for attorney review. Exchange pretrial conference order with opposing counsel for finalizing. Ensure all hearings and deadlines are calendared appropriately. Prepare exhibits for trial binders within scheduled timeframe prior to trial date's for attorney's review. Update medical bill values received through case management software input, and verify medical balances timely. Work with medical and health insurance providers to confirm final balances and capture final values owed in case management software pertaining to the client's case. Request settlement checks from opposing counsel, as well as settlement documents for client signature. Prepare disbursement packets in advance for efficient and timely settlement when client checks arrive. Submit finalized disbursement packets to accounting for review upon settlement and payment received for client's cases. File dismissal's with prejudice with all relevant courts to ensure the litigation file has been properly close and the presiding Judge has been notified of such closure. Meet expectations of GRACES protocol at all times to ensure client satisfaction with services rendered by the firm. Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
