Why you'll love this position: The Line Cook will assist in planning and directing food presentation, assist in training kitchen staff and ensure all items in and around the kitchen and kitchen staff are in order. The Line Cook will also assist the Executive Chef in creating work routines for other kitchen staff, cleaning schedules, time management during events and food quality assurance.
The Line Cook will be responsible for all kitchen equipment, including knowledge of use and troubleshooting skills should appliances and equipment be in disrepair. The Line Cook will encourage staff to abide by the rules and regulations set forth by the Missouri Governor's Mansion. He/She will motivate staff to work efficiently. The Line Cook will be responsible for assisting the Deputy Director and Executive Chef with inventory, product and supply rotation and menu preparation and testing. The Line Cook should have a keen ability to improvise if there should be a situation during an event and under pressure. The Line Cook would ultimately be responsible for ensuring the safety and sanitary provisions to provide a safe and healthy working environment.
Assist in the preparation and design of all food menus. Produce high quality plates in both design and flavor. Ensure that the kitchen operates in a timely manner to meet our quality standards. Presume Executive Chef responsibilities with regards to planning and directing food preparation when necessary or when Executive Chef is out of the office. Resourcefully solve any issues that arise and seize control of any problematic situation. Manage and train kitchen staff, establish working schedule and responsibilities. Create order form for supplies to stock inventory appropriately. Comply with and enforce sanitation regulations and safety standards. Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and guests. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications 3+ years of experience as a Line Cook. Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures. Preferred Qualifications Excellent record of kitchen and staff management. Accuracy and speed in handling emergency situations and providing solutions. Familiar with the Governor's Mansion's best practices. Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS). Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.
