SummaryDiagnoses mechanical problems, repairs and rebuilds equipment; checks and schedules work with others; orders parts as needed.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesInspect and make repairs on all aspects of automotive vehicles and equipment. Do general and major work on vehicles, buses, light and heavy trucks, graders, and other automotive diesel and mechanical equipment.Inspect, adjust and replace necessary units and related parts.Tune motors using standard testing equipment. Repair and overhaul brakes, transmissions, differentials, front and rear axle assemblies; repair and install hydraulic controls.Perform different phases of tire work and minor body repairs.Perform emergency road repairs and test vehicles and equipment to ensure safe operating conditions.Prepares shop work orders on equipment repair, and orders parts as need to maintain stock.Makes service call as needed.Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.Perform other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.This position has no supervisory responsibilities.Able and willing to perform duties outside of this job description as the company or specific project requires it for success.QualificationsMinimum RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED equivalent required.Diesel Technology Degree required.Minimum five (5) years Mechanic experience troubleshooting caterpillar mining equipment.Experience must include working with Ford & Dodge trucks 2005-present.Previous experience working on Ford light vehicles.Previous remote rotational work experience as a Mechanic required.Working knowledge of Red Dog Facilities.Drivers License and acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy.Working Conditions and Physical RequirementsThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
