Community Access Services in Oregon City, OR is looking to hire a Full-Time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work in a group home setting with individuals with developmental disabilities. This nursing position earns a competitive wage of $38/hour. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE (LPN) As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you play a vital role in our nonprofit organization. Without you, we would not be able to fulfill our purpose! You provide skilled nursing care for individuals with developmental disabilities living in a residential setting who experience complex medical needs and require direct nursing service. This group home has a fun and happy environment and is a favorite among CAS employees!
Our residents are so great they're impossible not to love and build great bonds with. You assist individuals with disabilities to meet their personal needs, which include preparing meals, administering medications, assisting with hygiene, and lifting clients in and out of wheelchairs. Collaborating with the RN manager and residential site supervisor, you assist in providing emergency caregiving services when needed.
Each day, you check the patients' status and read the communication log. You review medical progress notes and other documentation to assess the daily needs of those we serve. You also carefully and accurately complete documentation of your own. Your warm and friendly demeanor makes it easy for you to provide excellent caregiving service and build relationships with residents, their families, visitors, and your colleagues.
As you encourage leisure activities and promote new experiences, you ensure that socialization needs are being met. You take pride in the difference you make in the lives of our residents and that makes you perfect for this nursing position!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE (LPN) LPN license in good standing in the state of Oregon before starting the position Knowledge about tube feeding, care of J & G tubes, nebulizer treatments, IV maintenance, and familiarity with various pumps as well as airway maintenance, trach care, ventilation, and suctioning Knowledge about medication administration and side effects Current CPR / first aid certification Good math and English skills Reliable transportation Desire to work with individuals with disabilities Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and the ability to acquire IV certification within 3 months of hire are preferred. A valid driver's license and the willingness to become a company driver would be a plus.
