Our Life Enrichment Education Program (LEEP) provides a comprehensive education for students grades kindergarten through transition with complex disabilities and communication needs. The program focuses on supporting students to develop knowledge and skills that increase decision making, self-advocacy, independence and access to a full life.



About this position :
The Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant (LPTA) assists the Physical Therapist to provide direct therapy to students, and consultation to the educational team in the district's classrooms for Life Enrichment Education Program (LEEP) students.

Essential functions :

Provides individualized or small group physical therapy to students whose Individualized Education Plans (IEP) contain physical therapy services Assists the Physical Therapist to develop students' individualized goals and treatment within the context of the total instructional program, by planning with the Child Study Team Consults with the Physical Therapist, other education staff, staff from other educational agencies providing services, and parents, regarding student needs, treatment, and progress Collects, records, monitors, and interprets data on students' progress Trains and provides on-going support to education staff, to implement physical therapy programs that may be delegated Manages student behavior by utilizing intervention techniques designed by the teacher and/or classroom instructional team Participates in planning and program development with the LEEP Motor Team, including Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, and Adaptive Physical Education Teacher(s) Fabricates and repairs motor equipment for individual students or classroom use Orders equipment necessary to implement therapy in the education setting Records service delivery information necessary for the district to bill third party medical reimbursement Minimum qualifications :

Current Oregon license to practice as a Physical Therapy Assistant Recent successful experience and training in pediatrics and developmental disabilities Ability to work as a member of a collaborative team Familiarity with the adaptive equipment and technology utilized with students who have significant mental and physical disabilities Ability to develop and utilize complex scheduling and time management techniques in the daily implementation of therapy, in a number of different classroom and school settings Skilled in using tools and equipment necessary to fabricate equipment, or make repairs including band saws, power saws, sanders, and drills Ability to acquire and maintain a valid first aid and CPR card Valid Oregon driver's license Written and oral communication skills sufficient to perform essential functions Physical and mental attributes sufficient to perform essential functions Ability to acquire and maintain OIS behavioral intervention certification Salary : Range 19 of the 2023 -24 classified salary schedule. Range 20 for bilingual candidates. New hires are eligible to start at up to Step 4 depending on experience, per Classified Collective Bargaining Agreement. $26.64-$29.02 per hour.
