Definition of Class This position performs advanced level duties associated with overseeing a functional area within a library department or unit. The incumbent assists and instructs patrons and library staff with general and extensive queries, applies fundamental knowledge of multiple standards, policies and procedures, and maintains accurate and detailed records.
This position is a Library Specialist for the Access Services unit of the Library. The incumbent is supervised by the Head of Access Services.
Examples of Work Performed Oversees the work area and daily tasks associated with interlibrary loan lending. Interprets library policies and governmental regulations concerning collections and circulation to external constituents. Oversees accounts related to Interlibrary loan lending billing and collection; analyzes delinquent accounts to determine appropriate measures. Processes fines and accepts payments using established procedures. Troubleshoots general errors when working with technical platform(s). Performs advanced bibliographic verification of requests using a variety of resources and other online tools. Provides input on policies, procedures, and issues. Utilizes a variety of tools and sources to answer in-depth and extensive queries, in addition to, answering informational and directional questions. Maintains quality public services provided to library users during hours of operation. Assists with circulation activities such as desk coverage, shelving, shifting, and identifying items for repair/preservation. Assists and instructs patrons in the use of library materials, equipment, and facilities. Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
AND
Experience:
Two (2) years of experience related to the above described duties.
Substitution Statement: Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
