The Instructor will design, deliver and evaluate an in-person learning experience for a group of approximately 25 Dual-Degree MBA / MS students in some five towns across northern Michigan during Fall 2024. The graduate 1.5-credit course is cross-listed at the Ross Business School and the School for Environment and Sustainability at the University of Michigan and will offer students a unique opportunity to better understand the social, environmental and diversity impacts of business from a variety of perspectives including large corporations, small community groups, environmental policy makers and social activists. The course is required for all incoming students joining the three-year Erb Dual-Degree MBA / MS program at the University of Michigan.
Course Design (50%) ? Define learning goals and objectives in the context of the Erb Dual-Degree Program and Erb Strategy 2022-26.
? Design curriculum for three-day learning experience in approximately five towns across western and northern Michigan.
? Design detailed program of visits to corporations, small businesses, environmental advocates, social activists and indigenous organizations.
? Create a detailed logistics agenda , with support from the Erb Institute Events Coordinator, to include transportation, lodging, meals and supplies for the group of approximately 25 students.
? Course Delivery (25%) ? Prepare pre-trip reading and video resources for the students to prepare for the three-day excursion.
? Assign written reflections before, during and / or after the trip for students to synthesize and share their learnings.
? Canvas: Create a course on the University of Michigan?s online course-management platform Canvas; upload all relevant materials; share announcements and lead discussions online; upload grades, evaluations and comments; and utilize other Canvas tools as needed.
? Lead the three-day field excursion , traveling together with the 25 students on a dedicated bus and staying together two nights in hotels on the road.
? Introduce and facilitate conversations with the guest speakers at each stop along the way, and lead evening discussions with the students to curate learnings and relate to the Erb Institute/s programming and five-year strategy.
? Student Evaluation (25%) ? Written reflections: Evaluate, comment, and assign grades to the student?s written reflections before, during and / or after the field excursion.
? Excursion participation: Evaluate students? participation over the three days of the excursion.
? Minimum of five years of related work experience in higher education, business management and / or environmental program management.
? Experience in the design and delivery of graduate and / or professional learning experiences, such as seminars, workshops, conferences or executive education.
? Minimum of five years of experience in generating written and presentation content at the intersection of business and social / environmental / diversity impact.
? Demonstrated project management, organizational and administrative skills.
? Ability to work independently, overcome obstacles, innovate, and exercise initiative.
? Excellent communication skills, including strong writing, speaking and presentation skills.
? Ability to work in a dynamic environment with multiple, and sometimes conflicting, priorities.
? Proficiency in MS Office ; Apple and/or Windows environments; and/or Google applications.
?? Work or volunteer experience with industry associations, global networks and/or fundraising.
? Work or volunteer experience facilitating business roundtables, industry associations or multi stakeholder collaborations.
? Work or volunteer experience with social, environmental, human-rights or justice causes.
?      Familiarity with Zoom, EventBrite and meeting tools.
