Responsibilities:
The Integrated Circuits Division Leader is responsible for the organizational leadership and second-level engineering management of a broad team of technical staff, contractors, administrative staff, and students focused on developing innovative technology and next-generation, integrated circuits and systems that solve problems of national importance. The Division Leader will have approximately 10 directly reporting staff and first-level managers (group leaders), and technical groups each having 10-15 members.
The Integrated Circuits division is focused on specifying, designing, developing, verifying, testing, and fielding integrated circuits for extreme environments and unique applications – from outer space to inside the human body. The division is responsible for architecting and implementing application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs), FPGA-based designs, mixed-signal discrete designs as well as provide the interface between block-level integrated circuit requirements and system-level considerations. They engage with other engineers and scientists, and functional organizational elements from across Draper's dynamic, interdisciplinary environment.

Division Leader responsibilities include:
Organizational Leadership:
Lead a team of talented engineers by providing clear direction, mentorship, and guidance, while fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment Develop and implement a division strategy (and group strategies) that support Draper's Strategic Plan Manage personnel resources for projects staffed by the division Staff development:
Develop the organization's future leader's careers through mentoring, growth assignments, professional seminars, and other educational opportunities Foster a learning and growth-oriented atmosphere by providing regular feedback, coaching, and development opportunities for team members Focus on building a community across the division through various engagements and activities Hiring:
Actively participate in recruitment efforts to attract top engineering talent, promoting diversity and inclusion within the team Effectively onboard and provide networking opportunities to new staff for long-term integration Technical Leadership:
Develop and transition technology to higher technology readiness levels Oversee the execution and quality of projects led by Division staff Implementation and Oversight:
Understand, implement, and update, as necessary, the division's best practices Manage the division's overhead and capital budgets Drive effective communication and collaboration within the engineering team and across the organization, promoting knowledge sharing and best practices Strategic Leadership:
Demonstrate strong problem solving, decision-making, delegation, and communication skills Drive the development and execution of engineering strategies that align with Draper's overall goals and vision Develop and manage budgets, resource allocation, and project timelines to optimize team performance and deliver on strategic objectives Qualifications: Qualifications
B.S. required (M.S. or Ph.D. preferred) in relevant Engineering discipline along with 15+ years of relevant work experience. The qualified candidate must have substantial prior organizational leadership experience managing a large group or team of people (20+) as a project leader, technical director, or line manager. Experience achieving positive results through others is essential.
The qualified candidate must be performance driven, a self-starter, and have demonstrated the ability to set organizational vision and achieve results. The ability to work within a team environment is a must. The final candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. An existing Top Secret security clearance, or the ability to obtain this clearance, is desired.
