Full job description About the Role
Clarios is looking for a Lead Tax Analyst to become a key member of its developing Domestic tax team. Reporting directly to the Domestic Senior Tax Manager, the role will collaborate on all aspects of Domestic tax, including but not limited to the Domestic income tax provision and Domestic tax compliance. This position will indirectly support the Clarios Global Tax Reporting team as part of the quarterly US tax provision process, coordinate with the US Finance team, offshore business center team based in Bratislava, and Clarios Treasury team. The role requires a solid understanding of tax accounting and tax compliance in a multinational environment with U.S. federal, state, and international tax exposure. The role demands developing leadership qualities, strong interpersonal skills, a robust desire to get things done, challenge the status quo, and drive improvements. Domestic Tax is an ambitious team, and we want you to be ambitious too! This role would require 1 - 2 days onsite at ou Milwaukee, WI headquarters location.
Key Objectives/Deliverables
Guide the preparation and review of the quarterly and annual Domestic income tax provision computations; assist in coordination of effective tax rate, uncertain tax positions and cash tax deliverables; prepare and review quarterly audit PBC requests
Influence and manage responses to federal & state taxing authority information requests and notices, US domestic tax audits, and appeals of tax assessments
Be a driver of the Domestic federal and state income tax compliance processes to ensure adherence to deadlines; prepare, update, and organize supporting information; prepare and review Domestic tax returns, tax payments, and claims for refund, with an eye towards completeness and accuracy both in the filings and the supporting documentation
Identify and implement process improvements, data automation, thorough documentation, and control improvements
Understand the business and related tax matters and develop the ability to translate this knowledge into tax planning and forecasting
Research US domestic tax-related issues, and analyze the tax effects of proposed transactions, including reorganizations, acquisitions, and divestitures, draft supporting memoranda
Monitor and evaluate tax legislation to identify its applicability to the company and articulate such application; stay current with income tax accounting requirements and developments
Assist in the development of less experienced tax team members and the Domestic tax team, as a function
Support SOX compliance and documentation
Support Domestic tax management in Domestic tax planning/strategy initiatives and analysis
What we look for
Minimum of 5 years of progressive responsibility in a US domestic tax role.
Bachelor's degree in accounting
Solid understanding of tax accounting concepts under ASC 740 and US Tax Compliance processes
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to communicate technical issues to both tax and non-tax professionals, particularly in responding to tax authorities
Proven analytical, organizational, documentation and self-management skills with a positive mindset and "problem solver" mentality inherent throughout
Ability to lead and work in a team-oriented environment
Proactive in seeking opportunities to assist others with various tax projects.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced tax department which values motivated team members who successfully navigate multiple priorities.
Basic tax planning skills; strong research skills
Developing leadership skills
Additional Preferences:
Experience in Big 4 Public Accounting and multinational corporation
CPA or equivalent preferred
High competency level with various income tax provision and compliance software applications including OneSource Tax Provision and Corptax
Experience with SAP, Sage FAS, and BNA/CCH research programs a plus
High proficiency with MS Office suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint). Working knowledge of Power Apps, a plus
