Lead Teacher Job Description and Responsibilities
Teeny Tiny Preschool is a holistic, community-based learning center serving children ages 2 months to 5 years and their families. The Lead Teacher at Teeny Tiny Preschool is the driving force inside of the classroom. Our ideal lead teacher is someone who is inquisitive, curious, and responsive. Additionally, this teacher has the utmost reverence and respect for children and the science of early childhood education. This lead teacher is responsible for building a classroom environment that fosters growth and development for teachers and students alike. Improvisation, observation, and flexibility are the most crucial skills for this position to ensure you are prepared for the unpredictabilities of working with children, parents, and co-workers. Duties
At the minimum, our Lead Teacher must:
Be at least 18 years of age. Have a high school diploma or completed GED. Have one or more years experience working with children. Attend and complete all required and elective training to state minimum standards. Understand child development, or have a desire to learn about child development. Awareness of and experience with a variety of creative tools and experiences. Curiosity and willingness to learn about Reggio Emilia philosophies, democratic education, and radical teaching practices. Strong belief in children?s innate intelligence, capability, creativity, and autonomy. Requirements
Additional Duties and Responsibilities for the Lead Teacher include:
Planning and submitting lesson plans and classroom curriculum. Bringing your own passions and interests into the classroom to help children identify theirs. Directing daily classroom routines and rituals. Preparing and maintaining classroom supplies. Preparing snack twice a day. Performing daily and as needed cleaning and organizing tasks in the classroom. Monitoring classroom maintenance needs Occasionally performing alternate duties as assigned by the Director. Observing, monitoring, and creating portfolios for children Assisting children with toilet training/diapering Modeling positive language, appropriate body language and healthy social habits. Assisting children in activities and self-care routines. Actively pursuing and participating in professional development opportunities. Communicating frequently and effectively with parents and co-workers. Re-directing children with positive guidance. Collaborating with staff to maintain tidy and sanitary common spaces. Attending staff and parent meetings as scheduled. Finding joy in your time with the children. Nice To Haves
In addition to the above requirements, it would be excellent (but not required) for the Lead Teacher to have:
A Bachelor's Degree Experience with Better Beginnings Previous experience as a Lead Teacher
