What you'll doBecome part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the all-electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:Position Overview:We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Functional Safety Lead Engineer to join our dynamic team. As the Functional Safety Lead Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our electric offroad vehicles. Your expertise will be critical in shaping the safety strategy for high-voltage battery systems, high-voltage charging infrastructure, propulsion systems, and energy management.Responsibilities:Safety Concept Development:Develop and lead the creation of safety concepts for high voltage battery systems, high voltage charging, propulsion systems, and energy management in electric offroad vehicles.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure safety considerations are integrated into the vehicle's design and functionality.Hazard and Risk Analysis:Conduct hazard and risk analysis for the entire electric vehicle system, identifying potential safety issues and defining mitigation strategies.Utilize industry-standard methodologies such as HARA (Hazard and Risk Analysis) and FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis).Functional Safety Standards Compliance:Stay abreast of relevant safety standards and regulations in the automotive industry, ensuring the company's compliance with ISO 26262 and other applicable safety standards.Drive the implementation of safety standards throughout the development process.Safety Verification and Validation:Establish safety verification and validation plans to ensure that safety requirements are met at all stages of the product development lifecycle.Collaborate with testing and validation teams to conduct safety testing and assess the performance of safety mechanisms.Cross-Functional Collaboration:Work closely with hardware, software, and systems engineering teams to integrate safety measures seamlessly into the vehicle's architecture.Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure a holistic approach to functional safety.Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, MI. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.What you'll bring We expect all Scouts to have integrity, curiosity, resourcefulness, and strive to exhibit a positive attitude, as well as a growth mindset.
