DescriptionJob Summary:
The purpose of the Landscape Maintenance Coordinator is to function as the first line assistant to the Landscape Maintenance Supervisor and to coordinate landscape maintenance and construction activities, as well as helping to achieve overall Facilities Services goals. This position coordinates the work of all the Classified Grounds Maintenance Worker and Grounds Maintenance student workers for Facilities Services. Interactions and contacts occur daily with the campus community in the course of performing work and responding to emergencies. This position is responsible for making decisions for the Landscape Team as to work priorities, work assignments, quality assurance, scheduling, performance standards, necessary materials and equipment, the means of accomplishing duties, and personal and public safety. These decisions affect work productivity and protection of the aesthetic quality and monetary investment in the campus landscape.
Required Skills and Qualifications: Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, orRepair of facilities in one or more physical plant or building services and one additional year of experience with responsibility for coordination of maintenance work or projects NOTE: Some positions may require licensing or certification in a specific trade area.Preferred Skills and Qualifications: Three or more years' experience in the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of landscape irrigationDemonstrated knowledge of plant identification, botany, soil chemistry, turf management, pest and disease control, and horticultural practicesDemonstrated knowledge of automatic irrigation systems, familiarity with operation of landscape maintenance equipment, and basic knowledge of skilled tradesIrrigation Association Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor (CLIA or CIT)Working knowledge of central irrigation computer management programsWorking knowledge of efficient irrigation practices and programingAbility to interact with and direct people with diverse trade skillsKnowledge and skills in project management, and skills in working with a large and diverse group of customersExperience in turf/grass management and/or arboricultureExperience in irrigation installation, repair or programmingCompensation:$24.55 - 31.07 per hour
