As we continue to grow and evolve, KPCW seeks a visionary leader to step into the role of President and General Manager. This individual will be instrumental in guiding the station towards new opportunities for innovation, funding, and community service, ensuring KPCW remains at the forefront of public broadcasting in an ever-changing media landscape. The successful candidate will demonstrate a robust track record of strategic leadership and a deep commitment to the values of public media.
The next President and General Manager of KPCW will be entrusted with several critical areas of focus to enhance the station's impact and sustainability. A paramount responsibility will be a strong sense of financial stewardship, including excelling in fundraising efforts. The successful leader must be capable of forging robust relationships with donors, sponsors, and grant-making institutions, expanding the financial base to support ambitious projects and ongoing operations.
Additionally, the leader will be tasked with prioritizing digital transformation at the station and exploring alternative media streams, ensuring KPCW adapts to changing consumption habits and remains accessible across multiple platforms. Furthermore, the commitment to producing compelling local news that resonates with and serves the needs of our community is essential. This role requires a leader who can innovate while preserving the trust and integrity that KPCW has established over the years.

Job Duties:The General Manager is responsible for ensuring that the duties and responsibilities listed below are fulfilled:
Provide leadership in planning, implementing, and providing oversight to station operations, seeking consensus where possible, and communicating the basis for decisions to stakeholders.Plan, implement, and provide oversight to ensure effective administrative support, budget management, grants management, contract management, records management, and overall personnel management (evaluation and development).Ensure that the facility, all equipment, and any other materials or items needed to effectively broadcast daily programming on a 24-hour basis are operating and maintained and repaired in a timely manner with appropriate delegation to Staff, Contractors, and Volunteers.Lead the station in planning, implementing, and providing oversight to ensure effective fundraising efforts, including business sponsorship solicitation, fund drives, member and donor programs, grants, and special events.Serve in the capacity of Chief Operations Officer for the station as required by the FCC and ensure that public records are adequately maintained, up-to-date, and available to the public upon request.Provide oversight to the Staff and Volunteers to ensure quality programming, appropriate use of third-party programming; quality production and announcing of live or station-produced programs and increasing listenership.Utilize radio listenership data, community and public feedback, and audience research and information to validate and/or modify programming when necessary.Promote KPCW's role in the community by articulating the mission, policies and strategic direction; developing positive relationships with community leaders and organizations, listeners, advisory boards, members, donors, underwriters, broadcasters, other volunteers, staff, and other constituencies of the station.Provide regular program and financial reports to the Board of Directors; advising the Board on policy decisions and implementing the board's approved policies and strategic plan.Serve as the primary communication link to other agencies and organizations involved in public broadcasting, representing KPCW's interests to those agencies and organizations, and seeking opportunities for collaboration or utilizing shared resources.Foster a positive and creative environment, offering support and encouragement to all staff, volunteers and other contributors in pursuit of the station's successful operation.Exemplifies, upholds, and enforces all company policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner.Experience & Education:Minimum of five years of experience in a leadership position with a non-profit organization, community radio or other community-based media.Experience with financial management, budgeting, non-profit accounting, fundraising and development.Experience directing grant writing, donor/member program management, and event coordination.Experience with radio/audio/podcast production.Experience in local news and/or emergency broadcasting.Experience with website development and use of web social media for communications and promotion.Skills and Other Requirements:Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and manage paid and volunteer personnel.Ability to work nights and weekends, when scheduled events require it.Ability to work with a wide variety of people, incorporating diverse interests and opinions into decision making and collaborations.Must have strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.Competency with software including Zoom, Microsoft Office Suite, databases, and radio production.Demonstrate knowledge and application of FCC regulations.General technical knowledge of radio technology and an ability to learn and adapt to new technologies (including media technology for program development, organizational communication, etc.)Familiarity with computer networking and management concepts.Excellent organizational skills.Demonstrated ability to work under strict deadlines and short timelines. Demonstrated ability to successfully work collaboratively.Verbally conveying information, instructions, and ideas clearly and quickly.Ability to travel.To Apply:
