We operate North Asheville and South Asheville locations and a catering department. We are locally and independently owned, food quality driven, and well known for our fun and eclectic work environments and memorable guest experiences. We are hiring for a Kitchen Manager position. This position is full time, and provides opportunities for promotions and career development. We pride ourselves on creating environments where high performers can thrive and are rewarded for their masterful performance.
SUMMARY The kitchen manager is a leader in the restaurant and takes responsibility for maintaining the written standards of the company and ultimately delivering the financial and qualitative measurements of success. To achieve this, the manager must be an expert at balancing the needs of the team, the guests, the community and the ownership. This dynamic position is given comprehensive training in BOH operations.
This individual:
Runs the back of house (BOH) with a focus on consistency, accuracy, craveable flavor, cleanliness, timeliness and comfort and vibe Acts as a leader, presents a professional and positive attitude at all times Will be able to work any position that they are supervising Is looking to grow with a company Will know our menu inside and out and is passionate about NC style BBQ Will provide over the top hospitality when interacting with guest and the team  Makes sure that all of our guests Taste the Love! Nurtures a culture of a Team environment An advocate for the Asheville community and lifestyle Brings a personality of positive energy and fun into the restaurant every day Has technical expertise in the areas of kitchen operations, culinary operations and food production, food cost control, and sanitation. Knows the standards and procedures associated with each of these areas and can teach them to subordinates Maintains cleanliness and sanitation in an exemplary fashion Demonstrates good financial acumen overall. Can write annual financial budgets for the restaurant and reviews financial performance daily and weekly to ensure the budget is met Maintains a culture of constant ongoing training and continuous improvement with no excuses Above all, enjoys the hospitality business  REQUIREMENTS The ideal candidate will possess at least 90% of the following:
A four year degree in business, preferably hospitality management or culinary arts Excellent oral and written communication skills Adequate computer skills and more importantly, the ability to learn a new computer application quickly and follow the standards associated with it Above average knowledge of food, craft beer, spirits and other finer things in life Integrity, honesty, accountability, a passion for excellence and an incapability of making excuses for anything less than excellence A natural surplus of hospitality extended to guests, employees and vendors no matter the circumstances Involvement in the community An unusually attentive focus on details and a compulsive desire to make even the smallest details perfect Above all, a desire to be the best BENEFITS Excellent salary compensation package that is based on education and relevant experience - $60k-$80k PTO (Personal Time Off) benefits begin immediately Attractive teamshare bonus compensation Best in class health, dental, vision, accident and disability benefits, Luella's contributes 60% of your individual premiums Employer funded continuing education programs Tuition Allowance towards hospitality management or culinary arts degree programs  Career advancement opportunities Free access to Employee Assistance Program Employee dine-in discount for you and up to three friends Free shift meals PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, talk, and hear The employee is required to be on foot for a large portion of the day/shift. The employee is required to stoop, kneel, or crouch; reach with hands and arms; use hands to finger, handle or feel tools or controls; must be able to lift and/or move heavy objects including tables and cases of food and beverage; must be able to lift approximately 20 pounds overhead When performing office functions, will be required to sit and work directly on a computer for several hours at time Must be able to sustain constant mental and visual attention WORKING CONDITIONS Kitchen environment, including hot areas, hot tools, hot plates, sharp knives and tools Outdoor off-site catering venues Office environment Exempt status Dynamic schedule can vary from week to week; work required on weekends and holidays and must be willing to work 45-55 hours per week as needed
