Title: Junior Estimator - Asphalt Paving, Earthwork, Underground Utility
Job Description:
We are seeking a Junior Estimator to join our asphalt paving, earthwork, and underground utility group. The Junior Estimator will support the estimating team in preparing accurate and competitive bids for construction projects. Candidates with a construction-related degree and internship experience in construction are preferred.
Responsibilities:
* Quantity Takeoff:
* Assist in performing quantity takeoffs from construction drawings and specifications.
* Quantify materials, labor, and equipment required for asphalt paving, earthwork, and underground utility projects.
* Cost Estimation:
* Analyze project requirements and develop cost estimates based on labor, material, and equipment costs.
* Utilize estimating software and databases to calculate project costs accurately.
* Bid Preparation:
* Assist in preparing bid documents, including proposals, bid forms, and subcontractor solicitations.
* Ensure that bids are submitted in accordance with project specifications and deadlines.
* Subcontractor and Supplier Coordination:
* Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain quotes for materials and services.
* Evaluate subcontractor bids and proposals to ensure competitiveness and compliance with project requirements.
* Documentation and Reporting:
* Maintain accurate records of project estimates, bid documents, and correspondence.
* Prepare reports and summaries for management review and decision-making.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
* Internship experience in construction or 6+ months of experience in a related field.
* Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software.
* Excellent communication and organizational skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
