Job Overview
In support of the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Unclassified Common Operational Picture (UCOP) Engineering Development Services contract, provide software engineering development and maintenance services and Java development subject matter expertise. Tasks will be conducted remotely or onsite in Chesapeake VA.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
Perform application software analysis, modification, and maintenance as required.
Assist with the resolution of software errors and system software enhancements.
Provide research and input for preparation of systems documentation.
Attend and actively engage in daily Scrum meetings, Sprint planning meetings, and Sprint retrospectives.
Responsive to team members throughout the workday and participate in Teams channel chats routinely.
Assist higher level team members with application testing, systems configuration, documentation creation and/editing as directed.
Perform routine programming assignments under supervision and direction of more senior team members and participate in task definition and assignment to meet Sprint and development delivery requirements.
Review objectives and assignment details with higher-level staff to insure thorough understanding.
The candidate shall use judgment in selecting among authorized procedures and seek assistance when guidelines are inadequate, significant deviations are proposed, or when unanticipated problems arise.
Write clean, maintainable, documented, and efficient code in Java.
Participate in code reviews to ensure best practices and quality standards.
Assist in troubleshooting and debugging applications.
Work in cooperation with external partners, including consultants, agencies, and vendors, to troubleshoot issues, integrate various hardware and software tools, and to assist with system integration design solutions, maintaining a current knowledge of relevant state-of-the-art technology.
Participate in the documentation of repeatable processes while supporting policy development and professional reports.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Mandatory Bachelor's degree in field of Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline from an accredited University, or Five (5) years of experience can be substituted for a degree.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Effective oral and written communication skills
Must have valid driver's license upon request.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
