I. Position Summary
One Sentence Job Description: The IT Systems Administrator works with fellow Information Technologies [IT] personnel to implement, integrate, and maintain campus infrastructure and end-point systems that facilitate teaching and learning at Malone University.
The IT Systems Administrator maintains servers and systems which are vital to the operations of the University as part of the Infrastructure Team of the Information Technologies Department at Malone University. Primary system responsibilities for this position include: Identity and Access Management [IAM], data storage and backup, virtualization platforms, and end-points.
II. ? Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities
? Installs, manages, monitors, and troubleshoots services, servers, and network resources (in conjunction with other infrastructure designated personnel); applies patches and updates; maintains security of data and systems; and oversees data backups
? Administers user accounts: manages Active Directory user accounts for faculty, staff, students, contractors, and other specialty groups; provides solutions for interfacing with Jenzabar to automate account creation and storage allocation
? Maintains email infrastructure and access of devices to that infrastructure
? Supports and maintains specialized applications including, but not limited to:
o Virtual Server infrastructure (VMWare)
o Server and system backups (Veeam),
o Storage Area Networks (HP Nimble)
? Maintains account access for third party resources via SAML
? Maintains the end-point 'golden image' and works with other IT personnel to securely maintain and upgrade campus laptops and desktops
? Regularly performs maintenance and upgrades during weekend maintenance windows to minimize downtime to students, faculty, and staff
? Provides advisory support for other IT personnel in troubleshooting client and service issues. Provides direct client support when necessary
? Participates in the implementation of the Disaster Recovery and Response to Incident Plan [DRRIP] for the IT department and the University at large
? Develops policies and procedures for functions related to this position

VI. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor's degree with a major in Management of Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field is preferred.
Minimum of 4 years of working experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified and carry proficiency in scripting languages and programming/automation that is
compatible with campus' Microsoft Active Directory infrastructure (such as Microsoft's Powershell).
Successful candidates will be proficient in the installation, configuration, and implementation of server and storage equipment and applications. He or she will also be proficient in Microsoft- and Linux-based server applications, including Active Directory, SQL, etc.
The position will be familiar and comfortable in the installation, configuration, and lifecycle management of software applications and will have the ability to research and troubleshoot problems that arise.
She or he will maintain a working knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise.
Attendance. Normal working hours for this position are Monday through Friday from 8am - 5pm with an hour lunch break. Summer hours may vary and some flexibility is available.
Evening and weekend availability will be required for the monitoring, upgrading, and ongoing
maintenance of systems and during busier periods of the academic school year. Some after hours on-call support is required.
Travel/Location. Travel may be required to attend classes, conferences, workshops, seminars, etc. to further skills pertaining to this position.
Physical Requirements. Moderate physical activity is required, including the handling of equipment up to 50 lbs (per NIOSH - National Institute of Safety & Health). Heavier loads may be required but should be handled with another's or some other mechanical assistance.
