Position Summary:
The IT Software Engineering Intern is responsible for assisting in the development, delivery, and support of all Martin Brower applications. The person in this role will be responsible for implementing solutions for existing products, as well as building new solutions for logistical problems. This position will be active for the summer of 2023.
Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
Develop internal applications that assist running distribution centers.
Contribute to an automated testing framework for validating business processes.
Assist in all aspects of Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) activities where necessary.
Analyze system issues to accommodate business needs by providing level 1 & 2 support for Martin-Brower logistics applications using standard, best practice incident management processes (e.g. ITIL).
Develop, maintain, and continually progress in knowledge of Martin Bower's applications, including but not limited to: Create training, support, process documents, and test scripts.
Warehouse, Transportation & Operations Applications: Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), transportation system.
Create training, support, process documents, and test scripts.
Independently manage small-to-medium application and implementation projects
Other projects or duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED and 0-1+ years of general work experience.
Working towards a four-year Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, or Computer Science. Non-degreed candidates with an appropriate combination of education and experience may be considered.
Must be able to work a full-time schedule for the summer of 2023.
Travel - As necessary, minimal.
This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
0-1+ years' experience writing software in Java or other object-oriented languages.
Exposure to databases and writing queries in SQL.
Exposure to Linux or other UNIX based operating systems.
Exposure to working with WMS systems.
Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle, and experience with source control management tools like SVN or GIT.
In-depth understanding of application programming concepts & tools such as IDE's.
Expert user in Microsoft Office with outstanding interpersonal skills
Knowledge of Java, Selenium, SQL, Fitnesse, Jenkins, GIT/GitLab, Linux/Unix
