Job description What you'll doWork closely with the Chief IP Counsel and other IP attorneys and patent agents to support implementation of Scout Motor's IP strategiesHelp develop, implement, and maintain docketing processes, procedures and policies for invention disclosures, patents, patent applications, and trademark applications including daily or periodic clearance of workflowAssist in maintaining docketing system for invention disclosures, patent applications, patents, and trademarksGenerate regular status reports for business teams for patent and trademark assetsHelp prepare patent committee meeting agendas; obtain, assemble and distribute meeting materialsAssist in administration of inventor awards programAssist in-house legal counsel in managing non-disclosure agreement drafting and reviewProvide general administrative support (proofread legal documents, make recommendations)Provide support in IP due diligence for corporate transactions, mergers, and acquisitionsHelp manage outside counsel and other external resources, including tracking projects, costs and expensesSupport the legal team in developing and delivering training programs for employees on legal matters and complianceLocation & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role may be based out of a Scout Motors location in Novi, MI. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company.

Bachelor's degree, with paralegal certificate or certification preferredProven experience of at least six years as a paralegal working with extensive patent and trademark portfolios and docketing systemsIn-depth knowledge of IP legal concepts, contracts, and legal research methodsProficiency in IP research and docket management tools and databasesExcellent drafting and writing skills, with the ability to prepare accurate and well-organized legal documentsDetail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work productStrong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlinesAbility to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a legal teamEffective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with internal stakeholders and external partiesWhat you'll gainThe benefits of joining Scout include the chance to build products and a company from the ground up.
