TOTE Maritime Alaska, the leader in safe and reliable service to Alaska, is seeking a Rate Specialist to join the team at our Downtown Tacoma office. – ONLY USE FOR TMAK POSTINGS

In this position you will:

be responsible for providing timely and accurate invoicing of all ocean freight charges as well as billing and invoicing of all accessorial charges for northbound and southbound shipments. Using problem-solving and deductive reasoning skills to reach conclusions needed for billing. Working within Invoicing team and with other departments to meet strict deadlines.

Main Duties and Responsibilities Include:

Month-end closing of all revenue charges within the fiscal period.
Daily invoicing of northbound and southbound ocean shipments to improve billing velocity KPI.
Receiving and processing of Alaska and L48 carrier charges.
Processing, reviewing, and billing all detention, storage charges in Alaska and L48.
Processing, reviewing, and billing various Alaska and L48 accessorials.
Developing an understanding of TOTE tariffs and customer contracts for all accounts.
Running control reports and performing pre-audits to increase accuracy.
Utilizing various data and billing systems such as EAM, BOX, JDA, and ETA
Daily communication and interaction with other departments.
Providing support throughout the department.
Performing accurate and efficient data entry/keyboarding.
Effectively performing additional duties, as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have:

Associates degree preferred.
One to two years customer service or billing experience, preferably in transportation.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills with internal and external customers.
Excellent analytical skills.
Must be a team player.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines.
High degree of self-direction and motivation.
Ability to work flexible hours on occasion, including evenings.
Detail-oriented.
Adaptable to change.
Organizational skills.
Continuous improvement mind set.
Computer proficiency with the ability to utilize standard software applications, Windows, and MS Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and OneNote).

The salary range is $34,800 - $61,000 with an anticipated hiring range $42,000 - $50,000. Pay will be based on several factors including the candidate's education, work experience, work location and specific job duties.

As part of the team, full-time employees will receive a comprehensive benefits package, which includes health, dental, vision, life insurance, short term disability, long term disability, employee assistance program, 401(k) with company match and discretionary funding, tuition reimbursement, supplemental parental leave, jury duty, and bereavement leave. Full-time employees will receive a minimum of 10 days' vacation, 10 days sick, 10 days paid holidays and one floating holiday every 12 months. In addition, we offer an annual discretionary bonus (based on eligibility).
