Job Description:Summary:The person in this position will undertake challenging and fast-paced work on projects involving environmental impact assessment, permitting, and compliance. Work may include:Compilation and analysis of environmental datasetsWriting environmental impact assessment documentsDeveloping and reviewing environmental, site, route, and conditional use permit applicationsCompleting environmental resources reviewsParticipating in field assignments to gather baseline environmental dataReviewing field reports to verify environmental compliancePreparation of presentation materials to communicate project issues to a variety of stakeholder typesThe person chosen for this position will collaborate with other Barr staff. Work may involve out-of-town assignments in the field or at another Barr office.Minimum Qualifications:Ongoing enrollment in an environmental science, studies, or policy; ecology; natural resources management; archaeology; or a related fieldCompletion of 2 years of college curriculumGPA of 3.2/4.0 or higherEffective oral and written communication skillsExceptional technical writing and task management skills, including scheduling, prioritizing, and following upAttention to detailStrong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)Ability to work independently and collaborate with teams of specialists and regulators at all levelsFlexible working style and willingness to occasionally modify personal schedule to meet deadlines and/or client needsWillingness to regularly travel up to 50 percent of the time with the potential for greater levels of periodic travel to meet client needsLegal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the futurePossession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving recordPreferred Qualifications:Previous relevant internship experienceExperience evaluating environmental data and preparing reportsFamiliarity with GIS toolsThis position requires presence in our Duluth or Minneapolis, Minnesota Barr offices.#LI-OnsiteOpen positions at Barr Engineering Co. do not have application deadlines.
