EMPLOYMENT TERMS: 9-month position; Non-tenure track for Instructor OR Tenure track for Assistant Professor



PRIMARY DUTY: Northwest Missouri State University is seeking a highly motivated and innovative public health faculty member who will lead the development and launch of future Public Health degrees. Position responsibilities include coordination, teaching, and advisement for the BS in Public Health degree. University service and student support are also critical aspects of the position. Those with a terminal degree (doctorate) are eligible for tenure track assistant professor appointment within the School of Health Science and Wellness. Master's level candidates will be eligible for appointment to a non-tenure track instructor role.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Teaching: Design and deliver courses in the newly developed undergraduate public health curriculum utilizing both online and on-ground modes of delivery within the School of Health Science and Wellness. Teaching responsibilities may also cross over into other health related courses and programs, both at the undergraduate and graduate level. Academic year teaching load is 24-26 credit hours (4 fall/4 spring) classes. Additional summer courses and associated compensation may be available. Program Coordination: Provide curricular recommendations and oversight of the program and delivery of the undergraduate public health program. Service and Student Support: Assist with student recruitment, student advisement, student development and retention. Active participation in related professional and community organizations, service on departmental, college, and university committees. Creative and Scholarly Efforts: Establish significant contributions of creative and scholarly research, participate in the generation, and share knowledge through conference presentations, journal publications, and other appropriate outlets. – This is for the tenure track position only. Perform other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: Education:
Instructor: Master's degree in Public Health
Assistant Professor: A terminal degree in Public Health (doctorate) OR a terminal degree in a health related field with a Master's degree in Public Health.
Certification/License: Candidates must possess or be eligible to obtain at least one of the following professional certifications: CPH, CHES, MCHES, CPHA, CERC, CPAPHS, OR CCHP
Experience: Candidates must possess the necessary skills and expertise to teach courses in the public health curriculum, with at least one year of prior teaching experience at the college level; Must be capable of coordinating the educational programs; Have an interest in Exercise in Medicine, American College of Lifestyle Medicine, and/or an interest in the link between health/exercise/physical activity and public health.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Typical classroom and office conditions with weekly office hours required



EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS USED: Faculty are issued a personal laptop. All classrooms are technology-enhanced (document stations, video equipment, wireless internet access)
