Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive genetic counseling services to individuals and families seen in the Ophthalmic Genetics, Retinoblastoma Clinics, and other ophthalmic specialties• Coordinate appropriate clinical and research genetic testing options• Perform requirements for Staff Members as outlined in Compliance Roles and Responsibilities in OHSU Hospitals and Clinics• Carry out job responsibilities in an ethical, effective, and professional manner• Document all patient care services delivered in support of third-party bills• Process billings for hospital and clinic charges in accordance with regulations• Track, document, and communicate genetic test results to patients and healthcare providers• Obtain and review medical and family histories of scheduled patients prior to clinic and prepare a summary for physicians• Screen and answer patient and healthcare provider inquiries related to genetic counseling or genetic testing services• Assist with inherited retinal disease-related research projects
Requirements
• Masters in Genetic Counseling (M.S.)• Board certified or active candidate through the ABGC/ABMG• Active Oregon Genetic Counselor License• Completion of an ophthalmic genetics counseling fellowship expected by time of hire• Detail-oriented, meticulous, and efficient in all aspects of work• Strong organizational and communication skills• Demonstrates innovation, initiative, and problem-solving skills• Ability to work well independently and with team members• Ability to adapt to a changing work environment• Demonstrated record of reliable attendance, punctuality, and successful performance
