Throughout the screening process, you will be evaluated based on the demonstration of these qualifications. Demonstrated experience training or teaching dental assisting students, staff, or co-workers from diverse backgrounds and with variable skill levels while providing constructive feedback.
Management, leadership, or supervisory experience in a dental assisting clinical and/or educational environment.
Experience in program development, curriculum revisions, or change implementation in academic or clinical settings.
Up-to-date knowledge of current practices and industry advancements within the scope of dental assisting practice such as infection control and sterilization techniques, dental materials and their applications, radiographic procedures and safety protocols, digital technologies in dentistry, four-handed dentistry techniques, expanded functions of dental assistants, advances in dental specialties, and emerging trends in preventive care.
Continuing education and advanced degrees and credentials relevant to the position. An active dental hygiene license (RDH) is preferred. A Master's degree in a field related to education or dentistry is desirable. Additional credentials are a plus such as Local Anesthesia Endorsement, Nitrous Oxide Permit, Expanded Practice Permit, Restorative Functions Endorsement, and active membership in professional associations such as ADHA and/or ADAA.

Education: Baccalaureate degree in any field

Certificates and Credentials : valid and current Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) credential issued by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB), Oregon Radiology Proficiency*, Oregon Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA)*, Oregon Expanded Function Orthodontic Dental Assistant (EFODA)*, Oregon Sealant Certificate*, Oregon Temporary Soft Reline for Denture Certificate*, Current Healthcare Provider CPR/BLS *A dental hygiene license or dentist license may serve as a substitute for dental assisting certificates, except for the Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) credential, which is a mandatory requirement.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in a full-time position as a general chair-side assistant, dental hygienist, or clinical instructor.
Current immunization records: Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR), Varicella, Hepatitis B, TB Test, Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis (Tdap), Influenza, COVID-19 Vaccination
Position Grade0Starting Salary ExpectationsStarting Salary:Initial Salary Placement will be between Step 1 ($64,562) and Step 3 ($68,491) based on related experience, per PCC's collective bargaining agreement. Salary Range:PCC Full-Time Faculty Schedule 2022/23
Position Grade Salary Range$64562 to $103562 Annual SalaryFTE1PCC BenefitsPCC offers a comprehensive benefit package designed to provide employees and their families, including domestic partners, with access to a broad range of benefit options. Includes Health, Dental, and Vision options, Group Life, Long-term Disability, Long-term Care, and Auto and Home Insurance programs. PCC currently funds the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS/OPSRP) pension and contributes an additional 6% into the employee's Individual Account Program under PERS/OPSRP. A portion of the 6% will be diverted to The Employee Pension Stability Account as mandated by Senate Bill 1049. PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.
Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for courses offered at PCC for yourself, domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age; plus partial tuition reimbursement for yourself at other accredited institutions.
* Please note: Temporary Full-Time Faculty are not eligible for Personal Leave Days, Life Insurance, Long-term Disability, or AD&D Insurance.
Paid Leave:

Instructors shall have earned required academic credentials at a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution having the equivalent of regional accreditation.
