We respect infants and the people who provide for their well-being because we understand that the most important stage in a person's development is that first stage, infancy through Kindergarten! We partner with parents in educating infants and young children through our CAREgiving routines which is why we follow Magda Gerber's Educaring approach in our daily practice.
We are a TEAM working together towards the well-being of young children. Founded in 1977, our center is intentionally small and independently owned and operated by RIE and Montessori certified mentors. Infant Teachers enjoy low ratios with a primary group of babies who stay together with you for two or more years. You are supported by mentor teachers and parents as partners while caring for children using Magda Gerber's respectful model of early childhood education. We are skilled in resourcing those new to the profession in a way that you feel like a valued member while also learning how to integrate philosophy into daily practice. It's not easy.... but it's super rewarding. Most of us have joined the field in search of "meaningful" work, not just a job.
All faculty members are full-time, Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm with an hour break. Children arrive at 8:00am and depart by 4:00pm. Each day we gather together for communication, environment prep, and classroom planning. Starting salary is competitive and we are willing to train the right individual for long term growth. Duties Sensitive Observation - daily observation of children in order to prepare for physical care and play activities Physical Care - being fully present and seeking educational opportunities in diapering, feeding, and sleep care and transitions Environmental Design - preparing for safe play opportunities that allow the child to freely explore and discover without adult intervention Record Keeping - recording the arrival/departure of children, physical care activities, and weekly reflections of their activity Communication - maintaining professional and authentic communication with administration, co-teachers, and families Meal Prep - understanding the value of coming together for meals and supporting the school lunch program in preparing/cleaning community lunches Adhering to ABC and DHEC requirements in training, maintenance and record keeping Requirements High School Diploma (minimal requirement) Associate/Bachelors preferred in education/social services/psychology fields Infant CPR and 1st Aid Trained (or ability to complete this training in 90 days) SLED clearance to be able to work with infants and young children 12 hours of ABC training complete within 90days Respectful communication and ability to work well in a collaborative team atmosphere Attention to detail with sensitivity to maintaining a healthy community Nice To Haves Cultural sensitivity and/or training Bilingual Culinary, Music and/or Gardening interest Experience working in institutions Benefits Five weeks school closures plus holidays for vacation and personal time (accrued) RIE and/or Montessori paid training after 90 days Consistent hours (7:30-4:30) Monday-Friday Simple IRA matching Retirement Fund Paid medical Above industry salary (noted salary is intern/unexperienced applicants)
