Insmed is seeking a part-time scientist for the pre-clinical in vivo pharmacology group with prior experience in the maintenance and breeding of highly sensitive genetically modified mouse strains. The candidate will be responsible for independently managing several genetically modified mouse colonies as well as supporting pre-clinical pharmacokinetics studies throughout the pre-IND phase for all Insmed Programs.
Additional representative responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following: Independently maintain 5-10 colonies of genetically modified mouse strains Consistently track breeding success for each breeding pair, identify successful breeders to optimize breeding yields Set up large breeding cohorts to support study needs Handle biopsying and tattooing of neonatal mice, coordinate genotyping Perform pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies in mice and rats Effectively collaborate with team members throughout the research department to ensure optimal study outcomes Regularly review existing and identify new in vivo techniques to support program goals Author and review protocols, electronic notebook entries, and technical reports Maintain proper documentation of experimental procedures and results Qualifications: High degree of experience with standard animal handling techniques High degree of experience with standard routes of administration (including oral, IV, IP, SC), standard fluid collection, and tissue dissection techniques High degree of experience with breeding, tattooing, genotyping Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects at one time Knowledge of IACUC regulations and scientific documentation Significant experience working in a collaborative biotech environment Entrepreneurial spirit, with strong willingness to take on new challenges required to bring novel medicines to the clinic Excellent organizational and communication skills
Insmed takes into consideration a combination of candidate's education, training, and experience as well as the position's scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level for potential new employees.


The base salary range for this job is from $86,000.00 to $115,333.00 per year
