Aging and People with Disabilities (APD), part of the Oregon Department of Human Services, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual for an Eligibility Worker in our Pendleton office.

Eligibility Workers determine financial eligibility for Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) programs, including but not limited to, Medicaid/Medical Assistance Programs, Supplemental Assistance Program (SNAP), Employment Related Day Care (ERDC), and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). This position processes applications that are new and re-certifying by reviewing the applicant's financial and non-financial situations. Determining eligibility correctly and in a timely manner by following complex rules and policies which includes gathering appropriate documentation for the electronic case file. Also, will be referring applicants with additional needs to appropriate agencies.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
The Eligibility Worker will conduct 95% of work at their designated workstation. There will be occasional need for travel and field work that may involve going into a consumer's home. A valid driver's license is required and an acceptable driving record.
WHAT YOU NEED TO QUALIFY/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
2 (two) years of experience determining eligibility for an agency program by interviewing to assess the needs of clients, and interpreting and applying the policies, rules, and guidelines that are applicable to the client's situation.
Any college courses may be substituted for the two years of general experience on a year-for-year basis (45 quarter hours is equivalent to one year of experience).
ESSENTIAL ATTRIBUTES:
Calm, clear, professional communication skills to ensure quality service daily by telephone, in writing or in person for internal and external customers.
Experience with gathering information from customers for assistance with programs and/or services.
Experience working in multiple software programs
Experience interpreting, explaining and implementing policy and procedures
Experience with handling confidential and sensitive information
