Human Resources Specialist I - Learning & Development Location Louisville, CO : Overview JOB SUMMARY/OVERIVEW: The Human Resources Specialist is an entry level position responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and working closely with the entire HR team. The incumbent must be highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: learning & development coordination, light recruiting, HR projects, and HR administrative & clerical duties. This position is primarily responsible for training coordination using our learning management system and HR special projects.
Examples of Duties ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Provides daily human resources support with exceptional customer service. Supports leaders and employees as a competent and reliable resource while possessing a solid HR foundation. Assists HR Director and HR Managers with complex, special and ongoing HR projects as requested. Serves as a subject matter expert in the learning & development program and timely communicates all training activity to employees. Assists and serves as the project lead with new Learning Management System (LMS) implementation and responsible for entering data into the LMS. Collaborates with subject matter experts and outside consultants in the coordination of training. Identifies training needs within the organization and coordinates training programs and materials for employees. Creates job aids when needed. Responsible for the coordination of day-of training activities including set-up, take-down, ordering necessary supplies and refreshments. Coordinates, plans and oversees learning & development budget and related expenses. Serves as the Chairperson for the City's Employee Appreciation Committee (EAC), planning company-wide events such as summer picnics and holiday events. Assists with new-employee orientations ensuring employees have the necessary information for a seamless on-boarding experience. Coordinates New Employee Training sessions. Occasionally assists the Recruiting team with reviewing of resumes, arranging interviews, tracking candidate background checks and drug screens, and creating and distributing offer letters with accurate compensation packages. Responsible for coordinating, editing, writing, and publishing monthly HR Newsletter: collects articles from other HR team members and checks for accuracy, creates professional-looking page lay-out, and distributes monthly. Performs various administrative and clerical duties such as filing, data entry, supply ordering, spreadsheet updates and maintenance. Perform other duties as assigned. OTHER JOB-RELATED DUTIES: Exercises independent judgment in planning work details and in making decisions. Promotes positive employee relations and organizational philosophies through employee orientations, training, and other employee interactions. Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence and self-awareness. Troubleshoots a variety of AV equipment. Collaborates with and supports the Human Resources team. Develops and maintains relationships with employees at all City locations. Exhibits regular and reliable attendance but is flexible in meeting the needs of employees and the organization. General Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: A bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field is preferred. One to two years of Human Resources experience required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate tact and diplomacy at all times. Knowledge of human resource principles, procedures, and practices in the public sector. High energy, attention to detail and a result-oriented style. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook) and Adobe Pro. Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and follow through. Ability to communicate well and proctor training sessions. Solid and proven ability to exercise initiatives and judgment as well as make decisions within the scope of assigned authority. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of employees and consultants in a positive and proactive manner. Skill in dealing effectively and courteously with the public, other departments, other public and private agencies, and co-workers. Ability to apply strong computer and Internet research skills. Ability to collect, compile, manipulate and analyze information and data. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment. Basic knowledge of full recruiting cycle including on-boarding. Act as a role model for the City's values and Human Resource principles and practices at all times. LICENSE & CERTIFICATION: Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver's license with an acceptable driving record. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is typically performed indoors. Must demonstrate the ability to meet the physical demands of the job including the ability to retrieve information from various locations in the office when needed. Exposure to periods of high activity and high stress under demanding conditions. Will be required to move and set up tables, chairs, podiums and other training equipment. The position requires a great deal of communication with City employees and outside agencies. May need to drive to other City buildings to conduct meetings. Required Materials and Equipment Will be required to use general office equipment including personal computers, keyboards, phone, copy machine, calculator, and overhead projector. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work requires sufficient physical stamina and strength for: Constant sitting to perform daily tasks; occasional walking through a multilevel facility to retrieve information; frequent standing sometimes for extended periods. Frequent squatting, reaching above shoulder and twisting to file documents and lift supplies and material; occasional bending, kneeling, climbing, balancing and reaching below shoulder to store documents, material and supplies. Constant light grasp, fine manipulation, and handling to perform daily duties; occasional firm grasp to safely use equipment. Frequent lifting, carrying, push/pulling of up to twenty (20) pounds to move material and supplies including setting up and breaking down tables and chairs; occasional lifting, pushing/pulling of up to twenty-five (25) pounds with dollies and carts.
