Job summary
This position is responsible for performing administrative tasks and supporting daily activities.Assist in updating employee records, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and gaining exposure to various HR functions like recruitment, and employee relations.Provides an opportunity for individuals to gain practical experience and insights into HR operations.

Responsibilities
• Create electronic versions of s.• Assist in the development/creation of training documents.• Assist with duties provided by Sr. HR Generalist, Labor Relations Manager and HR Director.• Schedule and confirm interviews with candidates.• Process new hires for HBE which includes coordinating drug screens, background and reference checks, new hire orientation, filing, setup of employees in Workday, completion of I-9 forms and E-Verify to comply with Federal standards.• Establish and organize the maintenance of department records, ensuring complete accuracy and confidentiality.• Participate in organizing company events and careers fairs.• Develop industry knowledge by researching agreements and arbitration decisions to support Labor Relations Manager with interpreting collective bargaining agreements.• Collaborate with Labor Relations Manager to resolve labor disputes through grievance procedures, including the research and writing of responsive letters and formal briefs in support of SMC's position.• Provide support for labor claims and assist in local labor agreement negotiations.• Build relationships with employees in Operations and company leaders.• Seek opportunities to further employee engagement, specifically with a heavily unionized workforce.
Requirements
• Full-time student pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or Labor Relations.• Must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher.• Demonstrate leadership skills• Work effectively in a team environment• Express ideas and information in a clear and concise manner• Recognize and respond effectively to unexpected situations and tight deadlines• Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing task priorities and work situations• Demonstrate ability to complete tasks regardless of obstacles.• Strong Excel and Word skills• Detail-oriented• Excellent written and oral skills• Strong interpersonal skills• Excellent reading comprehension skills• Confident decision-making ability• Team working skills
