Responsibilities and Essential Functions Your primary responsibility as a host is to welcome and seat the Guests. The host is both the first and last person that the Guest sees; therefore, it is critical that you create memorable and positive first and last impressions for each Guest, which will ultimately set the tone for their whole experience.

Additional responsibilities include answering the phone, taking reservations, and maintaining an awareness of all activity within the restaurant.

Side-work, such as restocking desk and restroom supplies, maintaining the lobby and restrooms, making copies, dusting the front desk area, cleaning glass windows and doors, etc. is part of the daily work schedule.

You must arrive ready to work, well groomed, and dressed according to uniform standards. This includes wearing clean and pressed clothing that fits well. Hair and makeup must be done tastefully.

Everyone is a food and beverage runner, so you will begin to learn menu items.
