Job Description Overview Starting pay for this position is $17.00/hour
When scheduled to work hours will be Monday-Friday; 8:00am-4:30pm, with an occasional Saturday needed to work  Student must be able to travel to both Peoria, IL and Cuba, IL - travel is required as part of the internship program POSITION SUMMARY: The Health Promoter Intern plays a crucial role in promoting health and well-being within rural communities. Their responsibilities include data collection, maintaining documentation, engaging with community members, and making them an essential link between healthcare providers and underserved populations, working to improve the overall health of the community.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES: Data Collection: Collect and record data related to community health, such as demographic information, health behaviors, and prevalent health issues.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of community interactions, health education sessions, and data collected while strictly adhering to policies and procedures in place.
Community Engagement: Interact with rural community members to build rapport, understand their specific health needs, and provide education on health promotion strategies.
Bsic Qualifications Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Student currently enrolled at Spoon River College 
Valid and clean Driver's License
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to integrate constructive feedback.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively via telephone, digitally (video call, email, text, instant messaging).
Community Health Worker (CHW) certification required or obtained within six months of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Multilingual/bilingual
Basic competency with MS Office.
Experience with or knowledge of healthcare systems.
Networking and outreach skills and understanding of medical terminology commensurate with those of Community Health Workers and Digital Health Workers.
