This is a part-time, six-months grant funded position. Hours are approximately 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm Monday through Friday.
WAGE RATE: $13/Hour
PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Health and Wellness Coordinator is responsible for implementing, supervising, and evaluating the curriculum for the Health and Wellness Initiative Grant. The coordinator will implement activities around the theme of mind, body, and soul – addressing the health of the whole child. The goal is to help the children learn a variety of activities that they can then use to help themselves during stressful situations. The children should feel empowered in these times of need. S/he will be responsible for mentoring youth participants (with varying skill levels) to engage in physical activities and support the BGCA priority outcome of Healthy Lifestyles. The Health and Wellness Assistant will maintain positive professional relationships with participants, their families, and Club Staff. KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities): Prepare Youth for Success
· Implement organized physical recreational activities for elementary members daily. Discuss the activity highlighting how it is done, how it helps, and what the intended outcome is.
· Work with YDP's (classroom leaders) to ensure that the skills taught are carried over into other areas.
Health and Safety
· Ensure a healthy and safe environment, supervising members in all areas
· Leading discussions that share the mental, emotional, and physical benefits of each activity, prompting members to use these resources for themselves. 
Program Operations
· Establish positive professional relationships with Club staff, volunteers, members, and parents.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: · Knowledge of youth development. · Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems. · Ability to interact with the general public in a professional manner at all times. · Ability to implement quality athletic programs for youth. · Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment. · Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certification required. · Understand the commitment to the organization's mission and values.
