About the Role: Ash Wellness is looking for a Head of Finance. As Head of Finance, you will lead Ash's financial operations and be a core part of the company's leadership team. You will be responsible for all finance-related operations with the objective of driving better strategic decision-making and performance through financial modeling, forecasting, and analysis. You will report directly to the CEO and own strategic planning and forecasting, board meeting preparation, investor relations, FP&A, accounts payable, and all other finance-related operations. Initially, you will be a team of one (supported by an outsourced CFO service) with the opportunity to build out the finance function as we scale.
This is an in-person role out of our New York office, with flexibility for some remote work.
Responsibilities: Own and update the company's operating model, including reporting against strategic plans and analyzing monthly financial and business metrics (COGS) to ultimately help drive key-decision making across the organization. Lead board meeting preparation, monthly investor updates, and address investor queries promptly and accurately. Manage outsourced accounting firm/fractional CFO service and oversee financial initiatives such taxes, 409a valuation, and equity issuances. Manage financial operations including credit card reconciliation, payroll, sales commissions, bonuses, and vendor/contractor payments and negotiations. Document financial processes, tools, and dashboards, and create finance policies in collaboration with leadership, ensuring organizational alignment and efficiency. Qualities: You are analytical and data-oriented. You're comfortable diving into data to uncover insights and inform our strategy. You utilize data to understand levers you can pull to optimize financial health and drive growth at scale. You thrive in ambiguity and seek opportunities to dive into challenges, drive towards outcomes, and shape strategy in a rapidly evolving environment. You are an Excel wizard. Building financial models is your forte, and you're adept at using these models to uncover insights and make informed decisions. You can see the bigger picture, understanding how finance fits into overall business objectives and can pivot strategies accordingly. You are an excellent communicator, capable of distilling complex financial information into clear, actionable insights for different audiences. You are detail-oriented, ensuring accuracy in every financial model, report, and presentation you produce. You have a strong executive presence, able to interact with and influence stakeholders at all levels with confidence and clarity. Requirements: You have 5-10 years of experience working in finance-related roles, including some experience in investment banking and/or private equity as well as in strategic finance at a high-growth startup. You are highly proficient in financial modeling, with strong Excel skills, and you have a good understanding of data analysis tools. SQL proficiency is a plus. You exhibit extreme attention to detail, excellent communication skills (both oral and written), and demonstrated management abilities. You are comfortable managing multiple competing priorities and stakeholders, effectively balancing day-to-day operations with long-term strategic initiatives. You have a good understanding of the healthcare ecosystem, which enables you to make informed decisions and strategic plans that align with industry trends and regulations. You are based in NYC or willing to relocate, and can be in the office at least 3 days a week.
