George Fox University's Athletic department is in search of a Head Men's Tennis Coach / Co-Director of the Tennis Facility to join their team in this dual role to coach in intercollegiate athletic contrasts, administer a supporting program for men's tennis, and assume responsibility for managing the multi-use (tennis) facility at Austin Sports Complex. About the Job: The Head Men's Tennis Coach / Co-Director of the Tennis Facility is a multifaceted role that requires flexibility and adaptability on a day-to-day basis, both in-season and out-of-season. The individual in this position must exemplify a commitment to learning, integrity, and service reflective of the principles of Jesus Christ. With student-athletes as the primary focus, availability to coach, educate, and mentor is essential while exercising exceptional organizational and analytical skills to manage program administrative functions, recruiting efforts, and the facility's needs.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Head Men's Tennis Coach (50%) NCAA eligibility, communication with sports marketing, public relations, departmental meetings, and paperwork. Maintaining NCAA Division III, Northwest Conference, and George Fox regulations. Scheduling and conducting practice/training sessions. Scheduling competitions, arranging travel, hotel and meals, and coaching student-athletes. Actively recruiting athletically and academically qualified student-athletes. Handling all program administrative functions including, but not limited to: Budget preparation and management, as well as fund-raising. Co-Director of the Tennis Facility (50%) Developing individual and group tennis classes, tennis tournaments, hitting groups, and tennis camps to be offered and marketed to the community. Overseeing the tennis court rental to the George Fox University and external communities. Marketing and promoting the facility, classes, tournament, and tennis camps to the community. Completing routine maintenance of the facility, including, but not limited to, sweeping and cleaning of the tennis surface, routine net maintenance, trash removal, and cleanup. Acting as the building monitor of the multi-use facility, submitting all maintenance requests to plant services, and developing a capital maintenance plan to be forwarded to the Director of Athletics. Responsible for accounting records to accurately and timely report revenue from tennis classes, tournaments, camps, court rentals, and related expenses. Hiring and supervising student workers who assist in all tennis auxiliary daily operations. Articulating the mission of the George Fox University athletic program in ways that align with the "Be Known" vision of the University Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect, and customer service. By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role. Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people. Other duties as assigned. We're looking for candidates who have: A Bachelor's Degree. USPTA instructor and USATF (level 2) certifications. The ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing, including on the telephone, and to understand and follow instructions. Recruiting experience. A clean driving record along with the ability to provide proof of a valid driver's license and pass the University Driver Certification. The ability to work weekends, evenings and travel. The ability to manage multiple tasks and actively participate in practices. Knowledge of NCAA Rules. A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church. Job information: Hours Per Week: 40 hours, 12 months of the year (1.0 FTE) Weekend and evening work regularly required. Primary Work Location : Newberg Campus Local and national travel is required. Working Conditions : Physical requirements are those of a normal office environment.
