JOB LOCATION – Altoona, Wisconsin
STARTING DATE – Immediately
EMPLOYMENT TERM – Direct Hire
EMPLOYMENT TYPE – Full-Time
WORK HOURS (SHIFT) – Day Shift (Mon-Fri, 40 hour work weeks)
STARTING PAY – $25-$35 per hour DOE
REQUIRED EDUCATION – High School Diploma/GED and post-secondary education related to construction required
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE – Competitive applicants have experience in commercial construction
A glazier is a tradesman who works with glass and glass substitutes. Tasked with cutting, installing and removing glass of all kinds, glaziers install glass into things such as windows, doors, displays, storefronts and skylights, among other things. They may also be required to install sashes or moldings for installations and secure them with a variety of fasteners. Those who enjoy being creative while working with their hands may also gravitate toward this career path.
To become a glazier, you must be very physically fit. Glaziers are required to do heavy lifting and must often work outdoors. They must also be courageous and confident, as they are often required to complete jobs several stories in the air, and they regularly use ladders and scaffolds to complete work. This requires the ability to stand, sit, kneel and squat for prolonged periods.
Qualifications •High school diploma or equivalent
•Valid drivers license
•The ability to lift over 50 lbs on a regular basis
•Willingness to work out of town
•Reliable vehicle
•Experience in commercial construction
•Post-secondary education related to construction practices
•Altoona, WI 54720: Relocate before starting work (Required)
Responsibilities •Note this position consists of very physical labor in all types of weather
•Handling and cutting of glass and metal
•Installation of storefront, curtain wall and window systems
•Reading and interpreting shop drawings and blue prints
•Developing knowledge of modern construction principles and practices
