Position: Full-Time Lecturer (Illustration)Effective Date:August 19, 2024 (1-Year Appointment -Academic Year 2024-2025/2-Semesters, 1 to 3-AY Appointment(s), Renewable)Salary Range:The Lecturer (Academic Year -Range 4) classification salary is $74,280 to $158,064 per academic year (paid as 12 monthly payments). Position open until filled (or recruitment canceled).College of the Arts School of Art The School of Art is looking for a full-time lecturer in Illustration, who can teach both beginning and advanced illustration courses emphasizing editorial image making. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have experience in teaching watercolor painting at the college level with a focus on observational and representational strategies. The full-time lecturer will also serve in an advisory role as the program's BFA exhibition coordinator each semester, and will need experience in the jurying process, student portfolio review and advising, and exhibition installation. An understanding of contemporary illustration practice, knowledge of professional practices, and a strong visual imagination are essential to the program's core philosophyThe School of Art is dedicated to its mission of creating a comprehensive art school experience within the context of a large publicly funded state university. At the undergraduate level, we provide a diverse population of over 1,500 aspiring artists and art scholars with access to affordable, quality education combining a broad-based liberal arts collegiate experience with a firm historical, theoretical, and foundational art curriculum. At the graduate level, our degree programs are designed with a dual emphasis on tailoring programs of study to individual students while fostering shared experience among a community of graduate students. Our faculty is committed to the belief that an education in the visual arts and related scholarship can be grounded in tradition while geared toward innovation; can foster both discipline-centered and interdisciplinary activity and discourse; and can achieve a fusion of informed dialogue, practice, and production.Required Qualifications:M.F.A. in Illustration or a record of substantial creative/professional achievement in a relevant discipline/field. Degree at time of application or official notification of the completion of the degree by August 1, 2024.
