Louisiana State University of Alexandria (LSUA) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in computer science. The university is especially interested in teaching-focused faculty who are excellent in the classroom and online. LSUA is partnering with LSU to offer the BS in Computer Science online and will count on the new hire to play a vital role in that partnership. The ideal candidate will have expertise in operating systems, IoT, hardware, or cloud computing, which would address current faculty gaps within our department. While a strong foundation in one of these areas is preferable, we are open to applicants who are knowledgeable in other relevant disciplines within computer science. Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field is required for the position. ABD will be considered if the PhD is completed by the time of hire.
Responsibilities:
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
Develops and teaches face-to-face and online courses as assigned
Maintains high standards of instruction
Regularly keeps office hours and is receptive to students both in person and electronically
Offers quality academic advising to students
Actively serves on university committees and participates in institutional meetings
Assists with curriculum development
Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor
This position entails sixty percent teaching, twenty percent scholarly activities, and twenty percent community/university service.
