School of Professional Studies Position Overview
The University of Kansas, EdwardsCampus, School of Professional Studies, Project Management Department seeks an outstanding individual for a non-tenure track twelve-monthfaculty position as an Assistant Professor of the Practice for our growing Project Management program (PMGT). Exceptionally qualifiedcandidates will be considered at advanced levels. The successful candidate will have a professional record in project management andteaching, exceptional communication skills, and a strong commitment to educating and developing future project managers. The ideal candidatewill have a developed teaching philosophy and a demonstrated desire to inspire students and encourage lifelong learning in projectmanagement. The candidate will be expected to teach at least eight graduate courses per academic year in the area of project management. Asa Professor of Practice, the successful candidate has an obligation to maintain a consistent record of distinction through professionalactivities within the department and community. This position reports to the Director of Project Management.
This faculty position isexpected to teach undergraduate (Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Applied Science in Project Management), and graduate (Master ofEngineering and Master of Science in Project Management) Project Management programs and certificates. These programs are offered at theEdwards Campus in Overland Park, Kansas, and the Leavenworth Campus in Leavenworth, Kansas. The candidate will be expected to teach invarious formats such as in-person, hybrid, and online.

The appointment is aFiscal Year (12-month) appointment with an initial term of 3 years, with a course load of 3 classes each fall and spring semester and 2courses each summer semester. Subsequent appointments may be offered, contingent upon a satisfactory comprehensive performance evaluationduring the final year of this appointment and approval of the Dean of the School of Professional Studies.

This position serves theeducation needs of a Johnson County Education Research Triangle (JCERT) program. Specific percentages of effort for JCERT are determinedeach year.

Teaching three courses in Fall and Springsemesters and two courses in Summer semesters in the Bachelor and/or Master project management programs in the School of ProfessionalStudies. Teaching responsibilities include curriculum development, instructional design, virtual classroom management, and grading andteaching improvement. Faculty are responsible for keeping curricula up-to-date and engaging with external organizations to ensure relevanceto a variety of workplace needs. Provide adequate means to evaluate student performance, including examinations and assignments (such aspapers, projects, presentations, etc.) and grading. Professional Service (25%)
25% Provides academic andcurricular leadership advice to the department. Develops and enhances course curriculum. Academic advising and monitoring studentprogression. Promotes initiatives related to student recruitment and retention by developing student and alumni newsletters, revisions tothe department web page, and conducting surveys of alumni. Contributes to decisions made related to the educational aspect of the PMGTprogram regarding quality assurance and marketing. Acts as departmental liaison with regional engineering firms, professional societies, andthe PMGT advisory board. Required Qualifications
1. Minimum Master's Degree in Project Management, Business,Operations Management, Engineering, Engineering Management, Business, Leadership, Management, Technology Management, or its equivalent. Amaster's degree in other fields may be considered if combined with three or more years of professional experience directly relevant to theteaching assignment.
2. Years of project management professional experience required for each rank: Assistant Professor of thePractice: 3-5 years Associate Professor of the Practice: 6-15 years Professor of the Practice: 16+ years 3.Project Management-related teaching experience.
4. Excellence in written communication skills as demonstrated inapplication materials. Preferred Qualifications Doctorate Degree in Project Management, Business,Operations Management, Engineering, Engineering Management, Leadership, Management, Technology Management, or a closely relatedfield. Distinguished record of accomplishment (e.g., leadership role in industry or consultancy, etc.). PMI's PMPcertification or another project management-related professional certification.
