As a Forklift Operator at Sutton Transport, you will play a crucial role in the efficient and safe operation of our dock facility. Your main responsibility is to load and unload trailers on the dock, with 95% of the time spent on the forklift. This is a cross dock environment and you will be working with a team of other operators.
Job Description Work Schedule: 2am start Tuesday through Friday, 5:30am start Saturday Full time: 40/hr week Sutton Transport Offers: Competitive salary starting at $20/hr Health, dental, and vision insurance 401k with company match Paid time off and holidays Training and development opportunities Safe and inclusive work environment Responsibilities Safe Forklift Operation: Operate sit down safely and efficiently to move, stack, and load/unload materials, ensuring the safety of yourself and others at all times. Inventory Management: Keep accurate records of materials and products handled, making note of quantities, locations, and any damages or discrepancies. Loading and Unloading: Load and unload trucks, containers, and pallets with precision, ensuring that goods are properly secured to prevent damage during transportation. Dock Management: Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the dock area, including removing debris and obstructions, and ensuring clear pathways for equipment and personnel. Quality Control: Inspect inbound and outbound shipments for any visible damage, report discrepancies, and work with the team to resolve issues. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations and participate in safety training. Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance checks on forklifts, report any defects or issues, and help with recharging batteries or changing propane tanks. Qualifications Qualifications : High school diploma or equivalent. At least one year experience operating a forklift, loading & unloading trailers. Forklift certification per OSHA standards. Ability to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Effective communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
